Closing the Year Strong: Greenhouse Inspections Complete
As we head toward the close of the year, there’s a sense of momentum here at Sweet Earth Orchard. After months of effort, we’ve finally wrapped up the last of the building inspections on our greenhouse—and it feels like a big step forward.
Inspections Complete
Wildfire safety – done!
Access and engineering – done!
Final inspection – done!
Each of these checks has been a hurdle on the path, and clearing them means we can now turn our focus fully to what the greenhouse was built for: growing, learning, and nourishing.
Now comes the part that’s equal parts science and art—tuning the passive solar system. Colorado nights often dip well below freezing, and yet by midday the sun can push greenhouse temperatures into summer-like warmth. Our work is to balance these extremes, tempering the environment so that plants thrive in every season.
This is the exciting stage: discovering how to work with the rhythms of nature, rather than against them, and seeing how the greenhouse can become a steady, life-filled space even in the middle of a Colorado winter.
As the year winds down, it feels good to celebrate progress. The inspections are behind us, the greenhouse is alive with possibility, and we’re stepping into the new year ready for growth.
